The next year and our votes

May 2012  represent awareness, growth, compassion, wisdom and self- acceptance.
May 2012 also bring sensuality, lust, mutual respect and understanding, all this and much more according to its own and fair measure.
Our best votes, Harriet (ladies first) and Harry.

Serge buzzes his muse, Marina.

The style is fantastic, it suits her brilliantly. I may get one like this in the future.

A couple and friends have fun with a buzzcut

The red nose and slow exhaling suggest a teary mood, I feel I do understand her ambivalence.

Shortening a bob

If I got it right, they say that the stylist works for Jacques Dessange's French chain salon in Tokyo. The video is too short and it doesn't allow us to see final details.

From plain to wow

What a lovely cut, to compensate the audience for the terrible music and "silly sense of humor".

Emotional expressions during haircuts

A gesture or facial expression means a lot. And Serge Folks demonstrates this perfectly in his lovely collection of pics.

Here follow some of them, but you should click at the link.

The only thing I know after reading this Flickr page is that this lady said good bye to her dreadlocks. IMHO, sooooo much better now. I like braids, but not dreadlocks.

Braiding, brushing , a nice bun...

This French guy has a very interesting channel on Vimeo, called Cut by Fred. Tell me what you think of these.

The value of hair

Her long hair was kind of boring. This lady did something good, enhancing her beautiful features, and also helping kids who are fighting cancer.

What makes a hair fantasy or experience perfect?

I asked a friend "What is your perfect fantasy of a haircut and headshave? Do you have it clearly pictured in your mind?"

And Mr. Bald 's beautiful replied:
"she has long braids...I have been slowly taking control with my other rules...little by little she has grown to understand I am in control...I ask how much control I have..she lowers her head and says.."all of it"...I hand her a pair of scissors and say, "show me." She takes them and nervously cuts the braids as close to the skin as possible...I have her remove her clothes and sit in a chair...uncaped, I buzz the rest of her hair away, send her to the showers to wash off the hair...when she returns, I lather her head and brows...shaving both completely smooth. I then tell her to clean up the mess she's made, and watch as she sweeps up and throws away her own hair...she returns still naked and sits bald and browless at my feet...that is my perfect world scenario...smiles".
(the reply is published under his permission)

And now I invite all of you to share your stories!

A headshave journey

Watching the sequence of videos I got the impression that money was probably the only reason this lady accepted to have her hair progressively shorter till unguarded clippers devoured the remains of her mane. Tell me you guesses.

Self-esteem, hair & make-up.

What called my attention is the glow in the faces after the haircut. A change of look is an ego booster, especially if you are over forty and not an astounding beauty (my case).

Interesting tatoo

Oh, I forgot to tell you something I have seen at the salon I went to on Monday for my latest haircut. I was paying for the services and a stylist approached the receptionist and I just noticed a tatoo on the inner part of his arm, a black Edward Scissorhands' silhouette of about x1.5 inches, if not less than this; it was perfect for him. I was speechless at the sight of the tatoo, still influenced by the inebriating subjective atmosphere of a nape clippering and the razoring of some strands on the top.

I went to the salon today

BEFORE THE HAIRCUT

AFTER

AFTER (everything is too blue because of flashlight)

I needed to report this. Today was my haircut at that salon I have written about here, the one with the antique barber chair. To my surprise, there was a client having the haircut sitting there, I couldn't see if it was a man or a woman. I was not lucky enough to be sat there... (sigh)
Definitively, my stylist number 2 must be a fetishist.
1) he doesn't hesitate when I ask for a shorter, closer, higher nape. Every change was subtle, but noticeable.
2) he put a boring Redken black cape on me and when he realized the clippers were essential for my style he added a second cape: burgundy/pale red, silky. He fastened it tight and asked if it wasn't too tight. I said, No... (liar, liar, liar!!!!). He said the snipped hair adheres to the other cape, while the silky one is different, the hair falls easily. The subtle bondage element was clear for me, although neckstrips (a symbol of submission in my peculiar hair fetish dictionary) are not used there.
3) the chair was pumped high (the little girl trapped in chair feeling always says hello to me at this moment), his firm hand pushing my chin to chest ('Head down, please"). When the nape was being clippered (#3) and scissored over comb I couldn't see what was being done and the vulnerability  is usually enhanced in such occasions.  Did he really say "please"? I can't say for sure... I just complied.
4) he used clippers and mini trimmer on nape and a razor to defile the sides and top of my short bob.
Everything happened too fast, as usual. I hate this efficiency, LOL.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention the enormous armchair at the shampoo station. The assistant shampooed and conditioned my hair, he is a tall probably gay guy with strong hands, I missed the scalp massage (he should have done that) and deep lathering, but he gave me a complimentary back and shoulder massage that was delicious.
I don't know why, but I didn't feel ok taking pics of myself there, it's as if they would discover my feelings and this would be awkward. But at the other salon, with the "clippers only" stylist, I was quite often comfortable about that. The present salon is trendier, stylists and clients seem more connected to things and I feel more exposed if I take pics, a neurotical perspective of mine...

My nape needs a special barber...

Self-portrays are not an art I master!
Anyway, this was my style about a month ago, and I want to go that short, or a little bit higher and closer...

Here the top is longer... Posted by Harriet,

Which of the two guys is a real strylist?

He "fights' with the towel, he combs the hair in a strange way... Would you trust this man as a stylist?

Sweet short style

This is a sophisticated, simple-looking style. Excellent editing. And the young stylist is handsome.

This is a nice sequence of stills, showing lots of hair being scissored.

Hummmmm.

This doesn't need to be commented, right?
Posted by Harriet.

Paradise for the fans of clippercuts.

There is something with those bangs that doesn't seem to suit the model. But the nape, otherwise, is really beautiful. Maybe this is my next video for my stylist...

Rescuing damaged hair: SergeFolks creates a new style.

Well, the style could be even shorter (evil thoughts of mine), LOL

Serge Folks in the 90's.

I loved the bob, although I would be more conservative and remove the long strands that covered the nape. The bonus video is for those who adore the look, texture and meaning of snipped hair.
Pay close attention to the model's expression of pleasure.

Theo: trendy and edgy

Initially I thought that Theo hasn't left the client with much hair, and then he proves me I am wrong. Her short style has volume, movement and audacity.
